What is the Scan-1 OBD II scanner & Techline and how is it different from all other OBD-2 diagnostic systems on the market? The Scan-1 OBD II scanner is a PC based (Laptop or PC) UBS/Serial software system that will scan a vehicle, pull-up the relevant information from its internal database and then perform the appropriate BUILT-IN AUTOMATED TESTS to determine the problem. Many (expensive) aftermarket OBD-2 scanners have a form of internal database or troubleshooter. But, the Scan-1 OBD II scanner goes far beyond that. It's designed to take the difficult aspects of PID analysis out of the repair process. For example, the tool comes with an assortment of built-in tests (Buttons) that will analyze the data-stream (PIDs) and tell you what the problem is. You can do a series of tests without even looking at the data/PIDs. On top of it, during test mode the Scan-1 OBD II scanner will sample the data/PIDs at a much faster rate (faster than anything on the market) since it doesn't have to display the data each time. As soon as the test is completed (average 100 seconds) the Scan-1 OBD II scanner will analyze and come up with a recommendation. This means that the unit has built-in intelligence behind it. If you have all your OBD-2 information at hand, you won't even have to go back to your normal information computer and spend time there. The Scan-1 OBD II scanner will output normal scan-values, codes info, and code setting criteria just at the touch of a button. No TIME WASTED in information overload search. Information retrieval is fast, easy and tailored to the data you've retrieved from your vehicle. The SDPScan-1's database in vastly huge and covers many aspects of diagnostics and it will also keep growing. Graphing is also a snap. How many times have you been overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information and difficulty in using graphing. Well, the Scan-1 OBD II scanner has ALL AUTOMATED GRAPHING capabilities. All you have to do is choose from a series of buttons and you can graph the data for a specific fault, such as lean condition, O2 sensors, EGR fault, MAF fault, converter fault, etc. Both the tests section and the graphing sections are fully automated. You don't have to learn how to graph PIDs, just press a button. Plus, the Scan-1 OBD II scanner is a complete OBD-2 scanner meeting all the latest SAE Specifications. These specifications include a maximum of 76 PIDs (which include from O2 sensors, to EVAP pressure, EGR Error, AFR-Air Fuel Ratio Sensors, and on-the-fly monitor status). Up to 76 PIDs are now supported by the latest SAE Standard, which includes many PIDs only retrievable by OEM tools before. The Scan-1 OBD II scanner supports all SAE codes as well, which include P0, P1, P2 P3, C0, C1, C2, C3, B0, B1, B2, B3, U0, U1, U2, U3. P codes are powertrain, C codes are chassis, B codes are body and U codes are network faults. Keep in mind that this is the new SAE regulation and most vehicles are not yet made to support all these codes. The important fact is that the Scan-1 OBD II scanner is already capable of it. A protocol is simply a communication language. The Scan-1 OBD II scanner fully supports all 9 OBD-2 Protocols (J1850PWM, J1850VPW, ISO 9141-2, ISO14230-4 (fast), ISO14230-4 (slow), CAN (11/500), CAN (29/500), CAN (11/250), CAN (29/250). Although CAN (11/250) is not seen yet on automobiles, this unit is set for that. So you are set for the future. No adapters are needed to make the Scan-1 OBD II scanner CAN Ready. By 2008 all vehicles have to speak the CAN protocol (language). What do you get when you buy the Scan-1 OBD II scanner. You get the vehicle interface (box), OBD-2 connector, PC/Laptop connector/cable, software CD ROM, DVD Video on how to use the tool, and a high quality plastic molded case. The tool is very easy to use and setup in the computer. The unit runs on Windows XP and Vista only. You can order a free high-res DVD-video before you make your decision. This tool will change the way you repair you vehicles. It will simply let you concentrate on the actual repair. Don't be overwhelmed by information overload and complex systems. The Scan-1 OBD II scanner will help you deal with all OBD-2 performance, emissions and electrical faults related repair issues.
HOW IS THE Scan-1 OBD II scanner DIFFERENT FROM ANYTHING ELSE ON THE MARKET? * (Update 10.9.758) Automated tests were extended to cover, AFR (wide-range sensors), TPS a, b and c, extended converter testing, APP sensor (accelerator pedal position) and more. Integration with Skype is now finished. Through the Scan-1/Skype feature we now provide One-on-One classes (training), technical support and Techline Diagnostic Service. * (Update 10.9.757) Implementation of Mr. Bing Audio help feature, which tracks down the actions of the technician during usage and pays advise as needed. Mr. Bing is intended to make diagnostics more interactive, self aware and intuitive. Future version will make Mr. Bing audio help technically aware. The Internet data mining technology algorithm was also implemented, which makes the Scan1 automatically search for pertinent DTC information on the web automatically. This is a substantial time savings. The Web-Data mining feature has its own web page indexing database, as well as integration with Google. * (Update 10.9.756) Streamlined and finalized Virtual-Engine and Component-Simulation sections. Added more Mode-06 coverage, revamped the whole visual interface. Expanded the TECHLINE communication (TCP/IP or Internet) digital management so that slow dial-up access isn't a problem. *(Update 10.9.755) Virtual Engine and Component Simulator was added. These two sections are unique in a scanner-diagnostic system combo. It is widely used by schools and trainers and it is FREE. This software section came about from our previous experience with training institutions and individual trainers. It allows teacher to manipulate all engine PIDs using a virtual engine-panel control. Those changes are reflected on the scanner side. A second component simulation panel also shows an virtual oscilloscope waveform and animated wiring diagram which also change as the virtual-engine panel controls are manipulated. With the Scan-1 in Demo-Simulation mode you will see live waveforms, articulating electronic components (relays, coils, etc), scanner-graphing and every possible scenario presented in a real-world solution. In this version more automated tests were also added and improved. And an extra COLOR-PID digital grid was added, which changes color and can be seen from far away. The color patterns seen from afar will help you determine if the PID is within proper specs. * (Update 10.9.740) Mode-06 (CAN & OEM Ford, GM, Honda) Mode-06 is now available on CAN (rest of protocols soon) Generic, OEM-Ford, GM and Honda. What's more, Mode-6 can also be graphed. Why? EXAMPLE: You had a converter DTC, you then replaced the converter or rear O2 sensor. Now, with Mode-6 rather than run the Monitors, just Graph the Mode-6 Test until and view very quickly if the Mode-6 Test (TID) runs. If results are within the Min. and Max. then you're done. This is the fastest way to prove your repair. Only the Scan-1 OBD II scanner can Graph Mode-06. *Extensive refinements were also made to all the Scan-1 OBD II scanner Sections. All scanner pull-down lists are now dynamic, meaning they change depending on the vehicle you're working on. A DEMO section was also added. FREE Mode-6 for all citizens is also available, as well as FREE DTC definitions. Just go to the DEMO section to savor the benefits. * (Update 10.9.730) The NEW TECHLINE is here. YES, now we can link up with your PC and see what you see. This service will allow our technicians to provide one-on-one auto repair tech-support, as if we were right there with you besides the vehicle. Also faster and more streamlined communications. * The Techline is a fee-based diagnostic service. As of now you get it for free. If you get stuck, simply give us a call and take advantage of this freebe (for the time being). The fee for the Techline will be a per-case flat rate of $24.99 for a 72 hour period and for the same vehicle. That means you may call us as many times as needed for the same problem vehicle, within a 72 hour period. That simple. * (Update 10.9.72) A new 3D graphing section has been added, which allow for extensive 3D graphing of all PIDs. 3D graphing is a way to view a massive amount of data over a shorter period of time. 3D graphing also lets the technician discover problems that would otherwise be impossible to detect. * (Update 10.9.72) A new more compact look for the different sections of the software. This is in preparation for future expansion of the software features. The new TAB based navigations allows for more sections to be compacted in the same screen. This version also makes it easy to bind the Scan-1 OBD II scanner software to the computer, making it unnecessary to type serial number every time. * (Update 10.9.72) This upgrade also adds Web Catalog support and lots of streamlining to the software to make it run smoother. A new section called SBI (Scanner Bureau of Investigation) has been added to make it easier for technicians to report data-stream discrepancies. All you do is copy and paste this data into an e-mail and send it to us. * (Update 10.9.71) Now covers all OEM codes (P1XXX) for Domestics, Asian and European vehicles. * (Update 10.9.71) The new Video-CODE technology. Simply retrieve a code and press the Video button for a condensed Video Troubleshooter 1 to 4 min. long on the faulty code that you're working on. All Videos are built right into the Scan-1 OBD II scanner. * (Update 10.9.71) Each Section now has a Help-Video. Know how to use the tool right away. no guessing. * (Update 10.9.71) The BIGGIE MODE is here. This mode allows 4 large PID windows to be viewed from afar. Included by popular demand. * (Update 10.9.71) Extensive retooling of the software was done, to allow smoother and faster vehicle communication. * (Update 10.9.71) PID or Parameter Video Troubleshooters are now available. Don't know how to use a PID or Data-Stream Parameter, just choose the PID in question and click the Video-PID button. All from within your scanner software. * (Update 10.9.7) Larger PID Screen was added on the "Large Mode" to allow easy viewing. * (Update 10.9.7) PID textual troubleshooter explains why and how to use each PID. * (Update 10.9.7) More Generic Code Definitions were added. Combined, over 6000 Generic and OEM codes are covered. Making it the most complete Code Database in any diagnostic system. * (Update 10.9.7) Complete printing capabilities (Print Report) is now available. Get and print all codes, data PID, and CSC by just clicking a button. * The Scan-1 OBD II scanner is not only a scanner, but an entire diagnostic system. It has a built in database accessible at the touch of a button reducing the amount of time you spend on the information computer.. * It will analyze the data stream and tell you what the faulty component may be or the faulty area that needs your attention. * Fully AUTOMATED TESTING of different components and conditions, such as Lean Condition, Clogged Converter, MAF, O2 Sensors, etc. The amount of tests will increase with future updates. The next update is FREE when you buy the unit now. (Latest Release 10.9.7) * The unit will tell you what's the most likely cause for your faulty issue and gives you pointers on how to proceed. * Fully automated graphing. You don't have to set any controls. Just click a button and done. * NO LEARNING CURVE involved in diagnosing an OBD-2 system. If you can click on a button, you can use the Scan-1 OBD II scanner. * OUT-OF-RANGE scanner parameters (PIDs) flagging feature. This is the only diagnostic system on the market that'll FLAG any OUT-OF-RANGE PIDs. If out of range, the small PID readout screen will turn RED, giving you a VISUAL representation that something's wrong. * Simply the fastest OBD-2 Scanner on the market. The Scan-1 OBD II scanner has 4 SPEED settings, a Slow, Normal, Turbo and Hi-Definition PID scan speed. In Hi-Definition the Scan-1 OBD II scanner acts almost like an oscilloscope for O2 sensors, RPM, TPS, etc. Just remember that all scanners will give you whatever the ECM is seeing and you're not directly connected to the component. * Super fast Current and Pending code retrieval, w/built in code setting criteria database. * Ability to Graph (in Hi-Definition Speed). The Hi-Definition setting may not work on older OBD-2 ECMs, since these were much slower computers. High speed graphing will become a main stay graphing and one reason why we're changing to CAN systems. The Scan-1 OBD II scanner already has the Hi-Speed setting NOW, if the vehicle's ECM is fast enough. Many current models are capable of supporting Hi-Definition PIDs Scanning and graphing. * This is the only scan tool that allows you to change the tool's speed in the middle of the diagnostics. So that you can retrieve codes at one speed and view PIDs at another if so desired. Why? If you can view PIDs faster, you can then pick-up on the pesky fast glitches, such as an intermittently faulty ECT (coolant temp. sensor), O2 sensor, TPS blind spot, etc. By graphing the RPM you may even be able to capture a drop in engine speed due to a faulty crank-sensor unit. The possibilities are huge. But you may want to choose the slower speed to retrieve codes. This way you can do the slow stuff and graph in hi-speed. * On newer systems you have the ability to seal the EVAP Vent valve and also view a GRAPH of the fuel-tank pressure sensor as it rises and drops in pressure when doing the EVAP Test. Easy to view translates to easy to diagnose. * Your update is totally free and will also include MODE-6 decodes, Test Mode, and 3-D Graphing. * Simply put the Scan-1 OBD II scanner features can be summarized as follows: fast scanning, built-in intelligence, automated graphing set-ups and tests, built-in database, easy-EVAP testing, out-of range PID flagging feature, test analysis guiding you in the right repair direction, multi-speed scanning which is the essence and one reason of why we're changing to CAN, completely ready for all future protocols (languages). UPDATES in the future. That is the biggest complaint from technicians in the field today. Updates are very expensive!!! Not with the Scan-1 OBD II scanner. Updates will be offered at a price that won't brake the bank for any tech or shop. This tool also has everything else that any OBD-2 scanner should have, such as data-stream, codes, pending codes, erase codes, monitor status, etc. Note: You must have a Windows XP, Vista, 7 computer to run the Scan-1 OBD II scanner. The software WILL NOT RUN on windows 2000, 98 or older. Scan-1 Customers Update Your E-mail Here... At Automotive Diagnostics & Publishing we engage is the research & development of test equipment.
